Nokia X5 launched in China with a notched display

HMD Global Nokia X5

HMD Global keeps releasing more and more new phones as the time goes. This year we saw their 5 new phones on MWC. Then, in May, we saw three more. Nokia phones are available at basically all price ranges and categories. They also update their phones very frequently. Now, we have a yet another device to join the family, the Nokia X5.

The first renders of the powered Nokia X5 leaked about a month ago. We only knew that the phone rocked a glass design and an iPhone X-like notch. Today, the device has officially been announced in China. This device may launch outside of China as the Nokia 5.1 Plus, which is what was expected to be announced last week. Better late than never, here are the official specs:

Specs Nokia X5
OS Android 8.1 Oreo
CPU MediaTek Helio P60 @ 2.0GHz
RAM 3GB/4GB
Camera Rear: 13MP f/2.0 +5MP

Front: 8MP, f/2.2

Storage 32GB/64GB, microSD card support
Display 5.86-inch, 720 x 1520, 19:9 aspect ratio
Audio 3.5mm headphone jack, speaker
Battery 3,060 mAh
Ports USB Type-C
Price CNY 999-1,399

As you see from the specs above, the Nokia X5 is basically a mid-range device. Rocking the Helio P60 SoC and 3/4 GB of RAM, the phone will be able to handle almost anything you throw at it. 32 and 64GB internal storage options will help you store all your media files as well as apps. If that's not enough, you can expand the storage with a microSD card at any time. Fortunately, the phone features a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the back, you'll see a dual camera configuration made up of 13 and 5 MP lenses. The 3,060 mAh battery will definitely last a day.

The phone is only available in China at this time and it starts at CNY 999. It will be available globally later as Nokia 5.1 Plus, just like the Nokia X6 and Nokia 6.1 Plus. You can buy the phone in China starting July 19th. Pre-orders begin today on the company's official website.

HMD Global still continues to provide the latest and greatest Android experience on both flagship and budget smartphones. It worths noting that HMD Global promised customers that all of the Nokia phones will be updated to Android P. They already have a developer preview program for a couple of devices, but the list keeps growing. You can check the X5's forum at XDA from the link below.
