Last month, OnePlus released the OxygenOS Open Beta 1 update for the OnePlus 5T, folding Android Oreo into the company's beta program. (It's worth noting that the OnePlus 3/3T and the OnePlus 5 have already received stable Android 8.0 Oreo-based OxygenOS 5.0 updates.) Now, the company has released OxygenOS Open Beta 2, which includes enhancements such as a new clipboard interface, improved power consumption management, OnePlus's new Switch application, and more.
According to OnePlus, the OxygenOS Open Beta 2 update contains a "more intelligent background application management" solution and optimizations for "logic managing high power consumption applications". It also features a new clipboard that lets users perform "Search", "Translation", and "Share" actions with a single tap. There's a bug to note, though: Some third-party camera apps may not be fully compatible with the update.
OnePlus 5T users can install the Open Beta by following the instructions at the source link. It's still a beta, and chances are it won't be as stable as an official over-the-air update, so users are advised to make a backup before installing. Users who were already running the previous beta will get a notification to install Open Beta 2 in the coming days.
The OnePlus 5T, for the uninitiated, was released in November as a mid-cycle refresh of the OnePlus 5. It has same internals (a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip, 6/8GB of RAM paired with 64/128GB of storage) as its predecessor, but moves to a larger 6-inch Full HD+ (2160×1080) AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It also drops the telephoto lens of the OnePlus 5 in favor of a new secondary 20MP camera optimized for low-light conditions. The phone's powered by a 3.300mAh battery and ships with OxygenOS 4.7 on top of Android 7.1 Nougat. At launch, OnePlus promised that the Oreo update would roll out to the stable update channel in early 2018, and it seems poised to deliver.
